Welcome Note of Ondřej Peterka

In the year 2000, my partners and I launched the PETERKA & PARTNERS law firm in Prague, Czech Republic. Over time we developed an ambitious idea - to create an integrated regional law firm, which at first seemed almost impossible. However, after years of dedication and hard work, we became a strong alternative to the global giants and local law firms active in the CEE region through their networks or best friends.

The Czech Anti-Epidemic System
(in Czech: “PES”)

IN PLACE FROM 16 NOVEMBER 2020 AND AMENDED ON 14 JANUARY 2021

Brief description and presentation

The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic maps the current epidemiological situation using the Anti-Epidemic System (named “PES” in Czech) risk score. The regions will be assigned to five levels, on which the respective anti-epidemic measures will depend. The new evaluation system offers better legibility and predictability of epidemiological developments.

Risk index

The current epidemiological situation, including its development in the near future, is represented by a score on a scale of 0-100. This score, called the "risk index", shall enable the monitoring of the gradual deterioration or improvement of the situation and allow the prediction of which measures are to be relaxed or re-introduced based on the score obtained by calculating several indicators. The risk index will be published and updated on the following website: https://onemocneni-aktualne.mzcr.cz/pes.

According to the score, the Czech regions are assigned one of the five emergency levels with the appropriate anti-epidemic measures to be followed listed. The regions will be assigned to the respective levels based on epidemiological indicators, such as the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, a simplified calculation of the reproduction number, the proportion of hospitalized unrecorded in the community in the last 14 days, and the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants focused on seniors. Please note that the measures depend on the state of alert for the whole territory of the Czech Republic, not only for the corresponding region.

Emergency levels

The particular emergency levels are differentiated by colour according to the corresponding risk index, as follows:

Today, on 14 January 2021, the current emergency level valid for the entire Czech Republic is purple (even if the risk index is 75, because the appropriate score for dropping to a lower level must last for a certain period of time).

The measures

The anti-epidemic measures correspond to the emergency levels as indicated in the table below on the following link: https://koronavirus.mzcr.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Anti-epidemic-system-PES-13112020.pdf

We also however, recommend monitoring the new governmental resolutions, which may state the anti-epidemic measures valid for the given emergency level differently.
