On May 19, 2011 the President of Ukraine signed the new Air Code of Ukraine No.3393-VI (Air Code) which will come into force on September 17, 2011.
The Air Code intends to improve the regulation of civil aviation, taking into account the modern technical level of aircraft engineering, and incorporating the requirements of the international organisation on flight navigation security and passenger rights into Ukrainian law. In particular, this will entail harmonising civil aviation regulation with the norms of international and European law on civil aviation, since Ukraine is a full member of many international organisations, including the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL). In addition, the biggest Ukrainian airlines such as Aerosvit Airlines and Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) are members of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Ukraine is also a party to basic international conventions in aviation such as the Chicago , Warsaw and Montreal Conventions. More...
